For a couple of years, my friends have been raving about churros (which I can best describe as Spanish doughnut sticks). My first churro experience was in California, where a local fast-food chain offered thick churro sticks with a heavy coating of cinnamon sugar for 50 cents each. San Churro is more upmarket and uses good quality chocolate, so it’s a delicious but slightly expensive way to satisfy my churro cravings in Perth.

Our meal at the Witch’s Cauldron was not enough to satisfy our appetites and we were not foolish enough to pay for desserts in the restaurant. So, after stopping for ice cream, we wandered down the road and set our sights on San Churro so I could continue to placate my sweet tooth.

Churros For One ($8.95)
For each set of churros, you can choose between the white, milk, and dark chocolate dipping sauces. You also need to decide whether to get a coating of icing sugar or cinnamon sugar. I like the cinnamon sugar and dark chocolate combination, but you should figure out your own favourites!
The ‘Churros For One’ can probably be shared between two, depending on how much of a sugar hit you want. Opt for the ‘Churros For Two’ if you want better bang for your buck, or if you simply must try two different dipping sauces.

Kids Churros ($4.95)
The kids churros include three small churros and bonus sprinkles. These are colourful and fun, so they are a cheap awesome dessert for any age! There’s always more sauce than you need, so I suggest dipping your pinkie finger in chocolate and sprinkles to finish it off. Waste not, want not!

Gluten-free Chocolate Cake ($8.95)
As always, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. Thankfully, this flourless chocolate cake was stuffed into a take-away container and was a wonderfully indulgent snack for the next day. The cake slice is quite expensive, but it is a very generous serving that is best shared between two people.

Tea (regular size for $4.20)
San Churro also offers a variety of drinks, including coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Similar to the Koko Black experience, it might be wise to opt for a lighter drink to balance out the heaviness of the sweet and delicious churros.
I will have to upload my favourite churro recipe so you can recreate this dessert at home. Home-made churros are cheap and easy, but they will seriously impress your dinner guests!
