Fat Fridays!! We deserved a proper feed at the end of the work week, so we headed to Grill’d near the BHP building for burgers. A stroke of luck saw us secure a long bench outside for our group of around 15 people. It was a squeeze and we didn’t have elbow room, but no one seemed to mind.
I carefully scrutinise the menu each time I visit Grill’d but I always order the same burger. There’s also no point me looking at the chicken or lamb options because, in my own carnivorous world, it isn’t a burger unless there’s a large hunk of cow between the buns.
Crispy bacon & cheese burger ($12.50)
I ordered my bacon (burger) and tapped my foot impatiently until it arrived about 10 minutes later. Wow this is one thing I missed about Australia when I was overseas for five months - properly sized burgers with delicious juicy beef patties. The burger was gobbled up in a matter of minutes, leaving me grinning with herb mayo smeared on my face. Grill’d never disappoints.
The thick-cut chips with herb mix at Grill’d are also tasty, but they’re overpriced and start at $3.80 for the small snack size. Impressive speedy service considering the lunch hour buzz. This spot remains one of my favourite TGIF not-even-guilty pleasures.
Likes: speedy lunch service, consistently awesome burgers
Dislikes: expensive chips
Value for money: good
