We made a spontaneous coupon purchase and subsequently booked a table for two at Feast on Saturday morning. The deal cost $25 and entitled both of us to pick any breakfast meal and a coffee, tea, or fresh juice. Bargain!
We booked for a late Saturday morning because they serve breakfast until 1pm! This review includes the regular prices where possible, so you can figure out for yourself whether you want to visit Feast without a coupon. The crowded café was really busy until about 11am so we waited 10-15 mins before placing our orders, and another 15 mins before our food arrived. Not bad considering how many tables they’ve crammed inside!
Coffee; Apple and ginger juice ($7)
My breakfast date enjoyed his flat white as he licked his foamy milk-moustache (heh). There was a list of possible ingredients for fresh juice and I was surprised to find there was a proper kick of ginger in my apple juice. Perfect for my runny nose, but I would have preferred if the fruit was chilled. The waitress was initially uncertain about whether juice was included in the deal, but she conceded the point quickly.
Stack of pancakes ($15)
We shared savoury and sweet breakfast items. The sweet pick was pancakes with maple syrup, berries, and cream. We were slightly disappointed by the small serving of pancakes, but the toppings were nice. This food is labour-intensive but the cost of ingredients is minimal, so I think the usual price of $15 warrants more pancakes.
Feast big breakfast ($20)
The breakfast feast comes with ‘the lot’ including eggs (your way), chipolata sausages, rindless bacon, roasted tomatoes, cottage style baked beans, mushrooms with basil pesto, and two pieces of toasted sourdough bread. Lots of scrambled egg hidden underneath and overall a hearty serving of food. The baked beans with cherry tomatoes were heaps more tasty than the canned variety. In my opinion, the bacon is too healthy-looking but it tasted yummy.
No doubt the café is experiencing an above-average number of diners, which is probably the idea behind selling online coupons. We enjoyed the food and service was decent, but the prices are quite high so the servings could be more generous. Pearfect Pantry still remains my fav breakfast spot!
Likes: the “Feast Big Breakfast” is a hearty serving
Dislikes: small servings for other breakfast items
Value for money: not great, unless you have a discount coupon
Overall: unlikely to return to pay regular prices
