The coupon rampage is slowly coming to an end. We headed to Swish ‘n’ Chips in Mount Lawley for a discounted seafood feast for two.
We were running late so our food had been sitting in the warmer for 15 mins. The fish and squid rings were still crunchy but the chips had been sweating underneath. However, the manager was really lovely and brought us another batch of freshly cooked chips without us asking.
Fish & chips ($12); Squid rings (6 for $6.50); Extra chips ($2)
The fish and squid were both great, not dry from overcooking or watery like frozen varieties. I enjoyed liberally coating everything in chicken salt because that’s how I reckon fish n chips is supposed to be eaten. The golden batter wasn’t too heavy and the chips were plump *thumbs up*.
Salad (medium for $8); Tartar sauce ($2.50)
Our deal included a medium size salad, which the awesome manager piled up high for us. The chickpeas were not mushy and still had texture, plus they tasted great in a mix of celery, raisins, and sweet potato. I was so pleased to see that tartar sauce is sold in a large tub, so you don’t end up paying 50 cents for a tiny squirt (haha that’s what she said).
The servings sizes are very generous and our meal could easily have been shared between 3 people. We had heaps of leftovers to reheat in the oven the next day! You can defs feed yourself for under $10 and be super full and happy. I wish this was my local fish n chips spot so I could visit more regularly!
Likes: generous servings, well-cooked fish n chips, lovely manager
Dislikes: living in the wrong suburb, too far for this to be my local spot!
Value for money: awesome
Overall: would defs return for fish n chips if I was in the neighbourhood
